I have always had a passion for working with horses, having ridden all my life. I started my veterinary career with eventers, followed by racehorses in Lambourn, and then polo ponies. For many years I was Veterinary Officer at Cirencester Park Polo Club.

I also love working with small animals. Having been a partner at the practice for more than 25 years it gives me great pleasure to get to know so many clients and to have treated their pets throughout their lives. Indeed, it has been, and continues to be, a privilege to support generations of the same family.

My partner and I have three loving dogs - Jeff, a Labrador, Percy, a Dalmatian and Arthur, a Whippet. In addition we have a number of horses and I regularly compete in show-jumping competitions.

I enjoy all aspects of small animal work. I have an interest in feline medicine but being a dog owner myself, I like meeting our canine patients too! We have recently adopted a Border Collie X Lurcher puppy who is certainly keeping us busy!

In my spare time I enjoy horse riding, in particular one day eventing, although I have taken some time out from this to convert/build my house with my husband, who is an equine dental technician.

My interest is in all aspects of small animal practice, but with a particular bias for surgery.

Outside of work I've a keen interest in sport- particularly skiing, kayaking and rugby; although now I'm more regularly a spectator from the side lines!

Veterinary Surgeon

I have always enjoyed the variety of general practice with all of the challenges that come with it. I do have a particular interest in internal medicine, although I also enjoy time spent in the operating theatre. In addition, I am hoping to further develop an interest in emergency and critical care medicine to help treat patients requiring urgent care.

Outside of work, I am kept busy with two young children and an enthusiastic Labrador called Phoenix. I enjoy finding new walks in the countryside with Phoenix as well as swimming and baking, then relax with some cross-stitch embroidery when I have time to sit down!

I am delighted to have joined the team at The Sidings in February 2023.

My main veterinary interests are internal medicine, especially endocrinology, as well as soft tissue surgery and diagnostic imaging.

Outside of work I enjoy gardening, cycling and watching all sports. I have a Certificate in Higher Education in Astronomy and a growing interest in viticulture.

My main clinical interests lie in diagnostic imaging and internal medicine but I enjoy all aspects of small animal practice.

Outside of work I enjoy exploring the local area and socialising with friends. I've also recently discovered a keen interest in live music and DJ-ing!

Amber Batson

Veterinary Surgeon

I graduated from the Royal Veterinary College, London in 1999 and have worked in clinical practice ever since.
I first worked for Sidings vets in 2008, then hopped back up to Surrey for many years co-running a busy small animal and equine practice, before returning to the South West when my son was born in 2016.
Today, I work part time at the Sidings, whilst also running my own business, Understand Animals, through which I offer behaviour and welfare education to animal professionals and animal caregivers across the globe.
At home, my human family is embellished by our two dogs and ponies.

Registered Veterinary Nurse

I studied Zoology at Cardiff University before pursuing a practical career with animals in veterinary nursing. I qualified as a Registered Veterinary Nurse in 2009 and worked in two other Practices in the area, before joining The Sidings in April 2013.

I'm particularly interested in anaesthesia and have worked as a Clinical Coach, training student nurses in practice.

I live near Cirencester with my partner, Chris and our two boys.

I also have two terriers, Albie and Peggy and they keep us on our toes!

Outside of work, I enjoy family time, walking the dogs and cooking.

Registered Veterinary Nurse

I was born and grew up in the countryside on one of the Canary Islands and my house was filled with animals of every description, so I guess I always knew I'd end up working with animals in a professional capacity.

Along with everything that goes into veterinary nursing, I have a particular interest in surgical nursing and wound management.

I am a keen horse rider and I love going for long walks around the Gloucestershire countryside. When I need to switch off and relax, I get myself into the kitchen and bake all kinds of lovely cakes. I'm not up to the Great British Bake Off standard quite yet, but you never know!

Registered Veterinary Nurse

I have an interest in medical nursing and hydrotherapy. I have also gained a certificate in feline medicine from the International Society of Feline Medicine.

After having my children, I decided I would prefer to work in a small first-opinion practice, where I can get to know the clients and their pets and really feel like I can make a difference.

I live in Cirencester with my two children and two cats, Sylvester and Lily.

In my spare time, I enjoy running, baking, paddle boarding, travelling and spending time with my family.

I'm likely to be the friendly face who’ll greet you when you visit the Practice.

I'm very familiar with veterinary practices having previously worked in a large mixed Practice. I'm the proud owner of a Pug Zu, Rigsby who is full of character and a Chihuahua X Terrier called Woolfie.

I have many tales of circus life travelling the country with my husband. In my spare time, I enjoy socialising and taking Rigsby and Woolfie for long walks.

I've been at the Practice since 1995 and know all our regular patients, and their owners, very well. In addition to my role of organising everyone, I take my turn at the reception desk, and in the nursing care of our patients. I have a National Diploma in Animal Care.

I live with my husband, Ben, children Louis and Cora, and our two dogs, Flo and Nellie. In my spare time, weather permitting, I enjoy cycling with my family, camping and dog walking.
